Sylvie Drake joined the Los Angeles Times in 1971, where she served as chief theater critic from 1991 through 1993. She served on the 1994 Pulitzer Prize Drama Jury, was a personal interpreter for playwright Eugene Ionesco in the 1980s, served as president of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and on the Executive Committee of the American Theatre Critics Association.
