Harold (Harry) Zapolsky spent most of his career as a Professor of Physics at Rutgers University, where he served two terms as Department Chair and is now Professor Emeritus. He also served in Washington DC for several years as Program Director for Theoretical Physics at the National Science Foundation. His research interests are in theoretical physics, specifically in the areas of astrophysics and relativity.
A good joke, according to Zapolsky, is either a slightly inplausible tale, told with a straight face, about a perfectly plausible universe — or a plausible tale told about a slightly implausible universe. Either way, he notes, it is the sort of thing physicists do all the time.
